For most Dubliners spring can’t come fast enough. I often see people prematurely ditching their winter boots for sandals in the hope it will somehow encourage the sunshine to come out and play. Colours are starting to make their way into our wardrobes and onto the streets with bright bursts showing up in the darkest corners, be it a bright and bold yellow handbag being swung down Camden Street or a Daffodil popping up from the mud in St Stephens green.
This spring it’s all about a dandy pop of sunshine yellow to brighten up your floral treat. Seasonal Daffs, yellow roses and Craspedia beaming up at us like little suns. Brides are opting for lush, scented mixes of paper whites, muscari and ranunculus woven with home grown mint, sage or other fragrant herbs.
You only have to look at the S/S collections of Irish designers Orla Kiely and Simone Rocha to be inspired to don your brightest yellow handbag, earrings or hat and scarf (to fight off that lingering winter wind), head down to your favourite florist and grab yourself a happy wrap of daffodils and know that you’re doing your part to inspire others and spread a little spring cheer!
