Not sure if you did notice, this month our pieces have all run with an edible floral theme, and this week we have a few snaps to share from an amazing floral themed lunch hosted by the delightful Mikarla Bauer. Not only were the dishes flavoured with delicious edible flowers, but the lunch table was adorned with 100% edible arrangements. I’ve included a few snaps of her ridiculously beautiful studio space too…

Over a few glasses Elderflower and Pansy punch (and Rosé of course), we discussed all things floral, while chowing down on Lavender Goats Cheese smothered with honey and fresh Lavender blooms. When it came to the main event, there was an amazing Leek, Gruyere and Flowering Herb quiche, Rosemary Focaccia and a crisp Marigold and Rose green salad. I don’t know why more people don’t have floral themed meals!

Around the table if anyone wanted to add to their meal, they could take a sprig or snap off a few blooms from the centerpiece. Mikarla constructed the centerpiece arrangements from Dill, Mint, Oregano, Bay, Rosemary, Apple, Roses, Parsley, Chamomile, Wild Fennel, Lavender, Wheat and dried Artichoke flowers. Pretty and delicious.

I absolutely love this edible concept, I think more people should consider it for events where food is a focus, but just a reminder, if you are eating flowers, make sure they are edible and have not been treated with any chemicals!
